Join Dave Nicholas each weekday afternoon to hear all about what’s happening across the Coast and the world – along with a playlist full of variety from the 80’s To Now… and a giggle.  Probably at himself, but hey!

Dave was born in the McBrearty Ward at Grey Base Hospital way back in the 80’s and was raised in Westport so has the Coast in his blood. His Dad, Ken, was a coal train driver, so you could say coal is in his blood too.

Lukas is our genuine ‘Southern Man’. Born in Invercargill, he grew up on Bluff Oysters, Crayfish, and Muttonbirds.

Lukas had an early love of radio because his Dad was a coastal radio operator with the Post Office!

After some time in the UK on Hospital Radio (and a stint in pirate radio) he returned to NZ, where he has worked at several radio stations around the North Island.

Other hobbies include fishing, aircraft and airshows (don’t ask him about Oshkosh), and all things farming, which is good seeing as he owns one!

Dean’s radio journey began when, on his sixth birthday, he won a prize from the birthday wheel!  A lifelong passion for radio, media, and connecting with people began. Dean’s deep technical expertise is also very helpful at Coast FM when the Windows updates go funny.

Outside of work, Dean enjoys making the most of our great outdoors.  An avid fisherman, he can also fly – quite literally – after learning to fly several years ago! He’s also an insomniac, so we’ve given him the overnight shift. So if you can’t sleep or you’re on nightshift, Deano’s here for you from midnight to 6:00am, as well as Sunday mornings from 9:00am.  Busy boy!
